Andor Season 1: What happened to Luthen? Storyline, Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Filming Location, Review, Where to Watch and more

After Andor and Luthen were reunited at the end of Andor Season 1, many people wondered what would happen to the pair in Andor Season 2, a budding Rebel Alliance. Much of Andor Season 1 focused on Luthen’s attempts to assassinate Cassian to take care of loose ends after recruiting Cassian to assist in the Aldhani task. However, the season finale of Andor undermines this and has the eponymous character wholeheartedly supporting Luthen’s cause.

This collaboration dramatically sets the storyline of Andor Season 2 and the destinies of both characters. It’s reasonable to assume where the pair is headed in Andor’s second season based on information about the larger Star Wars canon, details from Season 1, and knowledge of where the Rebel Alliance is at the time Rogue One is set. While it’s obvious that the two would play a pivotal role in forming the Rebel Alliance in Andor Season 2, Andor is known to remain until the conclusion of Rogue One, giving Luthen a grimmer fate.

Andor Season 1: Characters and Cast

Cassian Andor played by Diego Luna:

A criminal whose planet Kenari was destroyed by a botched Galactic Empire mining operation. Andor is introduced in the series as an “anti-revolution” cynic. It follows his transformation in Rogue One into “the most passionate person who will give himself to save the galaxy”. He’s “really a fantastic spy, fighter, assassin,” according to Gilroy, who also defined him as a natural leader with people skills. When Andor was still called Kassa, Antonio Via painted him as a young man.

Syril Karn played by Kyle Soller

A deputy inspector for the Preox-Morlana (Pre-Mor) Authority, an organization that oversees the trade sector. After Karn, who works for the company, learns that Andor killed two Pre-Security Mor employees, he wants to bring him to justice. Soller described his personality as “a desperate need to impress and get his needs met. And so that essentially has to do with rising to the top of your field. He has chosen an area of dominance, complete control and confinement.”

Adria Arjona

Bix Caleen, played by Adria Arjona, is Andor’s ally and mechanic.

Stellan Skarsgard plays Luthen Rael, a member of the Rebel Alliance and Caleen’s dealing contact. He hires Cassian on his first assignment as a rebel agent. Luthen pretends to be a strange antique dealer from Coruscant.

Andor Season 1: Episode 11

After their prison break, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) and Melshi (Duncan Pow) are on the run, trying to avoid the Empire’s attention. Cassian is unaware until the end of the episode that Maarva passed on Ferris while arrangements are made for the funeral. Many prospects are watching closely how he will react and whether he will show up to say goodbye to his adoptive mother. With this in mind, Dedra Meero (Denise Gough) suggests that the ISB allow Maarva’s funeral rites under restrictions and under close surveillance. Even Syril Karn (Kyle Soller) senses this and is last seen deciding what to do.

The penultimate episode slows down to bring the focus back to several characters who seem to be rallying for the finale after last week’s fantastic prison break adventure. This draws so much attention that Mon Mothma’s (Genevieve O’Reilly) plot is sidelined. Even the first encounter between Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) and Luthen (Stellan Skarsgard) doesn’t feel as intense as the first.

There is no connection to the mysterious Anto Kreegyr or his position in the overall system. To use him as someone Lutheran willing to sacrifice himself for the “greater cause” is therefore out of place. The encounter between a Lutheran and an Imperial ship is a brief but gripping action scene. Still, it only highlights the impressive arsenal on Luthen’s boat and doesn’t advance the plot any further.

Andor Season 1: Storyline

The hopeful fans were pleased with the finale of Andor Season 1.

The final episode of the Andor Freshman season, which debuted earlier today on Disney+, wrapped up some storylines while others began. Here’s a closer look at what happened in the finale of Andor Season 1.

Andor Season 1: premiere

Maarva Andor’s funeral took place on Rix Road. In the final chapter, Andor’s adoptive mother dies, leaving Ferris in great sorrow at the death of a cherished resident. Cassian returned to Ferris to say goodbye to Maarva after learning of their predicament. The Empire raided the planet in search of the person they believed to be responsible for the Aldhani raid, assuming Andor would return for the burial.

While the Imperial Security Bureau focused on maintaining order during Maarva’s funeral, Cassian foresaw the Empire’s plans and, with the support of his lifelong friends, decided to save Bix from the Empire. After an ISB officer clipped Maarva’s recorded farewell speech, the residents of Ferrix erupted in a rage and turned against the stormtroopers in full guerrilla fashion. Cassian took advantage of the chaos to get Bix to safety.

Not only Dedra Meero and the other ISB agents were excited about Cassian’s return to Ferris. The Agents of the Rebellion and Luthen Rael were shown in the Andor season 1 finale as they searched for the ideal opportunity to assassinate Cassian. Though they shared in Aldhani’s crimes, at the time, Cassian was just a mercenary who did not support the rebellion.

Also, Cassian and Vel Sartha did not part amicably after the raid. Cassian, accepting his fate and begging Rael to officially join the rebellion, appears to have changed as a result of his imprisonment on Narkina 5. He made his choice partly in response to Maarva’s dying longing to see her fellow citizens join the fight against the Empire.

Andor Season 1 Post Credit Scene

A post-credits scene from Andor’s debut season solves a significant mystery. Finally, what Cassian and the other prisoners in Narkina 5 prison were working on was revealed in the brief scene. They worked to build the Death Star’s infamous superlaser, a weapon that could destroy an entire planet in an instant. As revealed in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it is ironic that Cassian helped create what killed him. The ending of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, with Darth Vader and the Emperor staring at the Death Star still under construction, was also foreshadowed in the post-credits scene.

Is there a season 2 of Andor?

Yes, Andor will return in season two, which began production on November 21, 2022. The following season will have 12 episodes, similar to season 1. Producers indicated that the main storyline would unfold over four major parts. Andor Season 2 will follow the titular character during the remaining time he spent leading up to the Battle of Scarif, in contrast to Season 1, which only lasted a year. Ariel Kleiman, Janus Metz and Alonso Ruizpalacios will all serve as directors for Season 2.
