Scott Alexander Scheffler is an American professional golfer who participates in the PGA Tour. He was born on June 21, 1996 in the United States. According to the official golf world rankings for the month of August 2022, he is now number one. He was the champion of the Masters tournament in 2022.

Early life

When Scheffler was six years old, his family relocated from Montvale, New Jersey to Dallas, Texas after the September 11 attacks. Scheffler was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey to Diane and Scott Scheffler and lived there until he was six years old. His mother, Diane, worked as the chief operations officer at the law firm of Thompson & Knight, while Scheffler’s father, Scott, was a stay-at-home parent. Scheffler was named after his mother.

When he was three years old, his parents bought him a set of plastic golf clubs and a ball and introduced him to the game of golf. After moving to Dallas, Scheffler began his golf education at the Royal Oaks Golf Club, where he was mentored by Randy Smith, the same instructor who guided Justin Leonard to victory at The Open Championship in 1997. Scheffler achieved notable success during his tenure as a junior golfer. He competed against other Dallas-area junior golfers, such as Will Zatoris, and won 75 times on the PGA Junior Tour.
