Who is Zach King, a guest on Generation Gap?
Zach King is one of the 25 most followed users on TikTok. He is an American online personality, filmmaker, and illusionist based in Los Angeles.
He is known for his “Magic Vines,” six-second videos that he digitally edits to give the impression that he is performing magic. His videos are described as “digital sleight of hand.” In 2008, Zach launched his YouTube career. In 2013 he started uploading his films to Vine.
Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Zach is half Chinese, half Austrian, and half Nicaraguan.
Zach King Store, his official online store, states that he began his magical journey at the age of seven after receiving his first video camera from his parents.
After that, Zach began making films for his family. But when Zach was a freshman in college, everything changed. One of his most ambitious videos, Jedi Kittens, watched over a million people in less than 24 hours.
Zach saw an opportunity to reach a larger audience with his original stories thanks to this sudden viral success. Zach began uploading his magical videos to Vine while he was still producing content for his YouTube account. He quickly amassed over 4 million followers and earned the nickname “Digital Magician”.
Zach and his team continue to “make magical videos and share new stories with the world” in front of their online audience of over 25 million viewers.
In 2016, Zach took part in the 28th season of the American reality game show The Amazing Race. He was the winner of two contests: the Hewlett-Packard advertising contest and the NextUp Creators contest on YouTube.
He attended the program with his wife, Rachel Holm, whom he married in 2014. The pair played well but retired on the ninth stage of the race. In the overall ranking, however, they took sixth place.
Tune in to ABC Thursday for Zach and Kelly’s amazing Generation Gap episode.
