The next day, October 17, 1974, Robert kidnapped the 12-year-old girl after telling her family he would be riding with her. When Jan woke up, she was strapped to a bed in Robert’s RV, which was en route to Mexico. Robert had lied to her family about where he was taking her. There he subjected the eldest of his three daughters to sexual assault, leading her to believe that she was a semi-stranger responsible for the survival of the species and that she must have his child before she turned 16. Jan was actually warned that if she didn’t, one of her sisters would have to take her place, or her entire family would go blind or die, so she felt she had no choice but to comply.

The truth is that Robert had even attempted to marry the prepubescent girl in Mexico where the legal age at the time was 12, although the legal age in the country at the time was 12; however, local officials were able to rescue them five weeks later. However, one of the most puzzling features is the married man’s later manipulation of his daughter Jan to keep her silent about the attack and to keep her parents from pressing serious charges against him, which was successful. But sadly, he kidnapped her again in August 1974, this time hiding her at a Catholic girls’ school in Pasadena, California until four months later when the FBI found him and arrested him on the charges.

It was reportedly not until she was 16 that she began to suspect that the alien mission, which she believed to be real, might have been a hoax. Eventually, this realization led her to begin to open up about her experiences for good. She later developed into an actress, singer, dancer and writer; her book Stolen Innocence: The Jan Broberg Story was published in 2003. This one simple act paved the way for her rehabilitation, and it was this step that enabled her to do so.
