Katie Guzenko: Who is she? Footage of her BULLET-SMASHED face went viral
Guzenko’s car’s front passenger window was shot through, her nose was shot through, and the bullet exited the driver’s window.

PORTLAND, OREGON: In a terrifying occurrence, Katie Guzenko, 27, was shot in the face on July 20 but managed to live. She was travelling close to Southeast 130th Avenue and Powell Boulevard when she became involved in a gunfight.

Guzenko, a native of Ukraine, was driving to buy cutlery for a bridal shower when she heard gunshots: “I kept driving, hoping to get out of that neighborhood… next thing I know my face is heavily bleeding,” she told KGW8. Guzenko pulled over and stepped out of her car to seek for aid. According to NY Post, one of the shooters’ bullets entered Guzenko’s car through the front passenger window, went through her nose, and came out of the driver’s side window.

The mayor of Portland, Ted Wheeler, issued a state of emergency on gun violence the day after this horrific incident, and he set a target of 10% fewer shootings and gun-related fatalities in the city over the following two years. Guzenko responded to this in a meeting on August 3 by saying, “These wounds that you see on my face are the consequence of a 40-caliber bullet that punctured right through my nose.” “Mayor, I feel like very little is being done given that you’ve dubbed us a gun violence emergency,” she continued. In response, the mayor stated that the 10% target for a reduction in gun violence was the “lowest threshold” and that he did not want mislead “bulls— people” by making inflated claims. In order to prevent similar violence from occurring in the city, he added that he is planning to hire 300 more police officers.

I heard gunfire when I was driving.” It’s going to be OK, the stranger tries to reassure her while trying to calm her down. OK, OK. My automobile was shot through by someone.”
