Harry Styles“a golden presence was missed at the 2022 MTV VMAs.

The “How It Was” singer, 28, was noticeably absent from the live awards show on Aug. 28 due to Love is on tour show at Madison Square Garden in New York on the same night as the VMAs.

Harry is nearby Dodge Kit and Jack Harlow— led the VMA nominations with eight nominations, including Song of the Summer, Video of the Year, Artist of the Year and Best Pop. Although he was not present at the awards ceremony, he recorded a video message accepting the silver-plated moon man as album of the year for his 2022 project, Harry’s house.

“Hello, VMAs,” he began his speech. “I hope you are having a good time. I’m Harry, thank you all for this album of the year award. I know it’s a fan award. I would like to thank all my fans who voted. Thank you very much. Obviously I would have kept it if it hadn’t been for you.’

Harry added: “I’d like to thank Tom and Tyler, who I made the album with, and everyone who worked on the album with me. I’m so sorry I can’t be with you tonight – I’m going to go on stage dear. Have a great evening and thank you very much.”
