According to Denise, having social media accounts is one of the ways she stays on people’s radar, explaining that it’s “fantastic because you get to hear from your people. I had to wait for the letters to arrive at the television station.”

However, Cathy explains that social media has its downsides for both of them.

“She’s new to the haters. She was on TV back then and nobody could DM her hate like they can me,” Katy said. “I get a lot of haters online. Showing who you are and being vulnerable is very difficult on social media because you’re opening yourself up to the world to express whatever thoughts they want.”

“But,” Katie continued, looking on the bright side, “there’s beauty in that, too. Reaching so many people and making sure all opinions are heard, I think getting that kind of feedback right away is really important.”

But Katie points out that the benefits of exercise go beyond what it does for a person physically, noting that it’s “not only good for your physical health, but I really love working out for your mental health.”

“There are a lot of fitness programs out there about weight loss, and I’ve never really revolved my workouts around that,” she continued. “Personally, I think you train to feel your best. Exercising really does help you feel better, more confident, more productive, and more successful. It’s also what makes my mom and I so positive. It can really change your thinking and perspective. “
