William, Harry joins Charles as the queen’s coffin leaves the palace
Prince William and Prince Harry joined King Charles III on Wednesday when Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin left Buckingham Palace for Westminster Hall.
Apart from Karol’s children, the 73-year-old monarch’s siblings, Princess Anna, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, were walking side by side behind the coffin.
The deceased Queen was initially transported to Buckingham Palace on Tuesday in a hearse from Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she died on September 8 at the age of 96.
In the Wednesday procession, her coffin was pulled by a chariot on which a crown rested.
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle followed the procession in separate cars. The first rode with the Queen Consort Camilla, and the second sat next to Edward’s wife Sophie.
William, 40, and Harry, 37, walked side by side, reflecting the positions they had taken after the death of their mother, Princess Diana in August 1997 at the age of 36.
While the newly named Prince of Wales wore military attire, the Duke of Sussex wore a suit as he was not allowed to wear a uniform.
The former pilot, who lost three military honorary titles after leaving the royal family in January 2020, referred to the uniformed affront in a statement released on Tuesday.
“Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, will wear a morning suit to his grandmother’s parties,” said a Page Six spokesman.
“His decade of military service is not determined by the uniform he wears, and with all due respect we ask that you focus on the life and legacy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II.”
Harry, who had officially resigned his royal roles in February 2021, got separated from William – but the siblings publicly reunited with their wives for the first time in two years on Saturday.
The Fab Four took a royal walk in front of Windsor Castle, with the former Duke of Cambridge initiating their tour together.
The Royal Brothers not only made headlines for treating their wives differently, but also the video of Markle’s awkward exchange with a flower adviser became very popular.
Harry and William went to dinner together on Tuesday night after the procession to Buckingham Palace.
Oprah Winfrey, who conducted a bombing interview with Harry and Markle, 41, in March 2021, said “Extra” he believes there may be a healing in the royal family in the future.
“When all the families get together for a common ceremony, a ritual for the burial of the dead, there is an opportunity to make peace,” explained the 68-year-old former talk show host on Monday. “I hope it will.”
