Windsor is a “lonely place” without Queen Elizabeth
Prince Harry told the crowd that Windsor Castle was a “lonely place” without his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The Duke of Sussex traveled to London from Balmoral on the weekend, where he greeted local residents standing in the streets in honor of the long reigning monarch who died Thursday aged 96.
“[It’s] lonely place out there now without her. ”Harry, 37, told mourners: to the sun.
“Whatever room she was in, you felt her presence all the time.”
His wife Meghan Markle joined the British royal family, along with his brother Prince William and wife Kate Middleton.
The four met again outside Windsor Castle on Saturday amid ongoing tension between the famous couples. Reportedly, the fissure has heated up since Harry and Markle, 41, quit their royal duties in 2020 and moved to California.
Both couples watched the sea of flowers that were laid in honor of the late queen, a moment that marked their first public appearance since Commonwealth Day on March 9.
A royal source told Page Six that it was William, 40, who issued an invitation to his brother and alumni of The Suit.
“We are all very grateful – both sides put everything aside for the queen,” the initiate told us.
The trip took place just days after Page Six reported that the Duchess of Sussex had not joined her husband, who had rushed to Scotland to see her grandmother before her death.
Harry flew in from the Invictus Games event in Germany on Thursday, arriving just hours after Her Majesty’s death.
Royal expert Nicholas Witchell speculated that Markle did not accompany her husband because she feared his family would not respond sympathetically to her presence.
“It may not be terribly warmly received, to be completely honest,” the BBC Royal Correspondent theorized.
Harry and William rushed to be with their father – now King Charles III – and Queen Consort Camilla Parker Bowles at Balmoral Castle after the palace confirmed that the Queen’s health was deteriorating rapidly.
Meanwhile, 40-year-old Middleton remained in England with the children she shares with William – nine-year-old Prince George, seven-year-old Princess Charlotte and four-year-old Prince Louis – on their first day of school.
