Yolanda Hadid defends the highly criticized comment “two almonds”
Yolanda Hadid used the age-old “out of context” excuse to defend her infamous 2014 comment that Gigi Hadid’s daughter had to eat “a few almonds.”
Hadid referred to the controversial quote in new interview with People on Thursday, claiming she was “half asleep” after having surgery to remove a breast implant when she said it on “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
“Gigi called because she wasn’t feeling well, and I must have said, ‘Eat two almonds,’ while I was half asleep,” said Hadid, 58.
“I don’t even remember why two or what. There was no order and composition for that. It’s such a silly narrative that’s out there that has nothing to do with the reality of our lives. “
During this time, Bravolebrity was on the phone with Gigi when she told her to “have a few almonds and chew them really well.”
“I always have a bag of almonds or some other kind of nuts in my bag because when my blood sugar drops, I can grab the nuts and eat them,” said People. “This is really good. But it’s not like I use it as diet food. I don’t believe in diets anyway. “
Hadid also received a reaction to being talked about her daughters’ appearances on more than one occasion during her four-year tenure on the smash hit series Bravo.
“You can have one night of being bad,” Gigi had previously said about eating at her birthday party. “And then you have to go back to your diet.”
“It’s hard not to eat any sugar and it’s hard to eat a salad every day,” said Gigi in another scene.
The former supermodel has since made fun of her controversial comments. Last month, she posted a TikTok video wandering around eating almonds and called herself “the worst mom ever.”
