Lil Nas X killed it on the red carpet at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, which kicked off on August 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

The “Montero” rapper arrived at the ceremony in a wild black outfit with high-waisted black trousers, a giant headpiece and a skirt with rings that looked like they were made of hair.

“He is heavy, and he is Harris Reid“, – the rapper shared with MTV on the red carpet of his ensemble without a shirt.

Eagle-eyed fashion fans may remember this shaggy look from the British designer’s Fall 2022 collection as the same Iman wore to the Met Gala 2021. The only difference is that the version of the iconic model was gold and included a full bodice.

Lil Nas X is up for seven VMAs this year Jack Harlow and Kendrick Lamar as the artists with the most nominations this year. The Thats What I Want rapper’s VMA wins — five of which are for “Industry Baby” with Harlow — include Video of the Year and Best Collaboration.

He is also up for Artist of the Year, making him the first openly gay man to be nominated for the prestigious award.
